Vol. 571 No. 1

Written Answers. - Garda Stations.

Charlie O'Connor

Ceist:

1209 Mr. O'Connor asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform if his attention has been drawn to the fact that it is the policy of the Association of Garda Sergeants and Inspectors to support and encourage a public-private partnership approach to the building of a new Garda station for Tallaght in Dublin 24; his views on whether action is now required on this issue; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [20717/03]

I am not aware of the policy of the Association of Garda Sergeants and Inspectors in this matter as set out by the Deputy. Capital works to Garda stations, including the funding and provision of new stations, are a matter primarily for the Office of Public Works, in consultation with my Department and the Garda authorities. Accordingly, whether the public-private partnership approach is appropriate in this instance falls to be considered by that Office.
