Vol. 571 No. 2

Written Answers. - Foreshore Licences.

Jimmy Deenihan

Ceist:

275 Mr. Deenihan asked the Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources if he will ensure that the diving towers and paths are retained at Fenit, County Kerry and that the diving boards are erected for the 2004 swimming season; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [21529/03]

Certain bathing and diving facilities at Fenit were the subject of a licence granted to a local swimming club under section 3(3) of the Foreshore Act 1933. However, the club concerned indicated to my Department some time ago that it wished to surrender this licence. The position in relation to the facilities is under review at present, having regard in particular to the need to protect public safety.
