290 Aengus Ó Snodaigh asked the Minister for Transport the extra resources he has authorised to facilitate the enactment of outstanding EU directives; the EU directives outstanding now; the reason for the delay in each case; and when the backlog will be cleared. [21535/03]
My Department currently has 15 EU directives awaiting transposition. The delay in their transposition arose from pressure of other official work but I expect all of them to be transposed by year-end. To assist in the achievement of this objective, the services of a private barrister have been employed in certain cases.
