I welcome the publication of the report of the National Economic and Social Forum, Equality Policies for Older People – Implementation Issues. My Department is giving consideration to the recommendations of the report.
In the context of the transposition of the EU directives on race and employment equality, the existing provisions on the age ground in the Employment Equality Act 1998 will be revised. This revision will form part of a Bill to be published in the coming months and will take into account the NESF and Equality Authority recommendations with respect to the age ground.
