Vol. 572 No. 6

Written Answers. - School Staffing.

Tony Gregory

Ceist:

211 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Education and Science when the promised teaching staff will be made available to St. Joseph's School for the Visually Impaired, Dublin 9, for the teaching of girls; the number of additional staff requested by the school; the number that has been sanctioned; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [23979/03]

I am pleased to advise the Deputy that the Department has agreed to the re-deployment of a teacher from St. Mary's School for Visually Impaired Girls to St. Joseph's School for the Visually Impaired. A letter to this effect issued to the chairperson of St Joseph's board of management last week.

The Department also agreed to the re-deployment of a special needs assistant from St. Mary's School for Visually Impaired Girls to St. Joseph's School for the Visually Impaired in recent weeks and an application for an additional special needs assistant is being considered. A decision on this application will be conveyed to St. Joseph's shortly.
