Vol. 572 No. 6

Written Answers. - Mayo Landslide.

Martin Ferris

Ceist:

247 Mr. Ferris asked the Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources if excavation work carried out in connection with the construction of the radar tower on the top of Dun Carten Hill, Pollatomish, may have had an influence on the recent landslide there. [23869/03]

Issues relating to the landslides in County Mayo are a matter for Mayo County Council. However, I am advised that a report is being completed for the county council into the factors contributing to the recent landslide in the Pollatomish area. The geological survey of Ireland, which is part of my Department, is providing data and other general support to Mayo County Council as part of the scientificengineering investigation.
