253 Mr. Fleming asked the Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources the number of postmasters and postmistresses who applied under the recent scheme for retirement from An Post; the number of post and sub-post office branches which will be in existence throughout the country; the number of these offices which will be computerised; and the number which will not be automated offices. [24007/03]

A total of 257 postmasters-postmistresses have availed of the financial package under the postal agency conversion programme.

At present there are 990 automated post offices. Of these, there are 93 company offices and 897 sub-post offices. There are a total of 718 non-automated post offices. Of these, 522 are non-automated sub-post offices and the remaining 196 are postal agents.
