Vol. 572 No. 6

Written Answers. - Community Employment Schemes.

Brendan Howlin

Ceist:

158 Mr. Howlin asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment if additional funding will be provided by her Department towards the considerable cost of incorporation to meet the requirement that all community employment schemes be incorporated; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [23894/03]

The administration of the community employment programme is a matter for FÁS. It is a requirement of the programme that all sponsoring bodies be incorporated before they can be awarded a project. This requirement was introduced primarily to protect the personal liability of members of the sponsoring committee. The cost of incorporation is usually reclaimed from FÁS as part of the expenses of the project. I have no plans to provide additional funding for this purpose.
