Vol. 573 No. 1

Written Answers. - Medical Cards.

John McGuinness

Ceist:

222 Mr. McGuinness asked the Minister for Health and Children if a medical card will be issued to a person (details supplied) in County Kilkenny on medical grounds; if the decision not to grant the card based on financial assessment only, will be reversed immediately; if the matter will be expedited; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [24425/03]

Responsibility for the provision of a medical card is, by legislation, a matter for the chief executive officer of the relevant health board or authority. My Department has, therefore, asked the chief executive officer of the South-Eastern Health Board to investigate the matter raised by the Deputy and to reply to him directly.
