Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

Paul Connaughton

Ceist:

216 Mr. Connaughton asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when the area based payment will issue to a person (details supplied) in County Galway; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [25024/03]

Originally my Department had no record of an area aid application for 2003 having been received from the person named. However, the herdowner has recently lodged satisfactory evidence that a valid area aid application for 2003 was submitted on time. The area aid unit of my Department is currently processing this application as a matter of urgency.

Ceist:

217 Mr. Connaughton asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when the 2003 suckler cow grant will issue to a person (details supplied) in County Galway; when all payments due for 2003 under the 22 months special beef premium scheme will issue to this person; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [25093/03]

The person named has submitted two applications under the 2003 special beef premium scheme. The first application, received on 26 June 2003 was in respect of 11 animals and the second application, received on 15 August 2003, was in respect of one animal. Advance payment, at a rate of 80%, will issue shortly in respect of the first application. The advance payment in respect of the second application is also expected to issue within the next few weeks, the regulatory retention period having expired on 16 October 2003.

The person named applied on 31 animals under the 2003 suckler cow premium scheme. When the application was being processed for payment, it was found that two of these animals had been sold during the retention period. The person named has now provided details of two replacement animals. The 80% advance payment under the scheme will issue to him within the next seven days.

218 Mr. Noonan asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food when outstanding payments will be made to a person (details supplied) in County Limerick. [25094/03]

The person named applied for 25 animals under the 2003 special beef premium scheme. Advance payment which represents 80% payment has been processed and will issue shortly. The person named has, to date, eight eligible animals under the 2003 slaughter premium scheme. As one of these animals is a beef breed heifer under 30 months of age, it was also deemed eligible for national envelope. For the five animals which were slaughtered in February-March 2003, advance payment of 80% issued on 21 October 2003 under the slaughter premium scheme and on 22 October 2003 for the one animal under the national envelope. The remaining three animals were slaughtered in September 2003. Advance payment is currently being processed for September slaughterings and will issue shortly.
