Vol. 573 No. 5

Written Answers. - Palliative Care Services.

Liz McManus

Ceist:

143 Ms McManus asked the Minister for Health and Children the annual State grant aid in 2001, 2002 and 2003 to voluntary hospice agencies for capital projects through the health boards and through his Department. [25968/03]

As the Deputy will be aware, palliative care services are provided for clients by the health boards, the Eastern Regional Health Authority and voluntary hospice agencies. The information requested by the Deputy in relation to grant aid provided for voluntary hospice agencies is not routinely collated in my Department. My Department has, therefore, asked the health boards and the Eastern Regional Health Authority to provide the information requested, and reply direct to the Deputy, as a matter of urgency.

144 Ms McManus asked the Minister for Health and Children the annual State grant aid in 2001, 2002 and 2003 to voluntary hospice agencies for current running costs through the health boards and through his Department. [25969/03]

Provision of this information is a matter for each health board and authority. Therefore, my Department has requested the chief executive officer of each health board and authority to contact the Deputy directly to furnish all the relevant information on this expenditure.
