271 Mr. Costello asked the Minister for Education and Science when construction work will begin on the renovations and additional classrooms approved for Ardkerin national school, Riverstown, County Sligo; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [26119/03]
I am pleased to inform the Deputy that my Department has approved acceptance of tenders for improvement works and two prefabricated classrooms at Ardkeeran national school, Riverstown, County Sligo. The progress of this project during construction is now a matter for the school's management authority.
272 Mr. Wall asked the Minister for Education and Science if his Department will provide funding to a school (details supplied) in County Kildare, to furnish an extension to the school which was recently completed; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [26120/03]
My Department is providing over €1.9 million in grant aid for a large scale refurbishment-extension project at Scoil Mhuire, Ballymore Eustace, County Kildare. This project is recently completed and is listed in section 3 of the school building programme. In addition, my Department has also sanctioned €20,000 grant aid for the provision of furniture at the school.
The school may use funds allocated by my Department under the terms of the grant scheme for minor works to purchase additional furniture provided such funds are not required for more urgent and immediate works.
