298 Mr. Ó Fearghaíl asked the Minister for Education and Science the contacts his Department has had with the Department of Defence, regarding the provision of a new post-primary school at the Curragh camp, County Kildare; the likely timescale involved in delivering this new school; and if he will make a statement on the matter. An application for grant aid towards refurbishment works has been received from the management authority of the post-primary school at the Curragh camp in county Kildare. My Department is assessing this application. When the assessment has been completed a decision on how the accommodation needs of the school will be met will issue to the management authority. In general, the timing of when individual projects can progress to architectural planning will depend on the financial allocation for 2004 and subsequent years and the competing priorities for that funding by reference to the published criteria for prioritising large-scale building projects.
