Vol. 574 No. 1

Written Answers. - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

Fergus O'Dowd

Ceist:

490 Mr. O'Dowd asked the Minister for the Environment Heritage and Local Government if additional capital grants will be made available to Louth County Council to ensure that the necessary infrastructure is in place to host an event (details supplied); if his attention has been drawn to the works that need to be undertaken in this regard; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [26212/03]

In so far as my Department's infrastructural programmes are concerned, funding is being provided for construction of the Baltray-Termonfeckin sewerage scheme under the rural towns and villages initiative of the water services investment programme. The €5 million scheme is under construction and should be completed by spring 2004 in time for the event in question. It will service existing demand and cater for development requirements well into the future, including the increased visitor numbers that can be expected during the event itself.
