Vol. 575 No. 3

Written Answers. - Schools Building Projects.

Ned O'Keeffe

Ceist:

212 Mr. N. O'Keeffe asked the Minister for Education and Science if a school (details supplied) in County Cork will receive the necessary funding in 2003 to commence work on a specific project. [28393/03]

The timing of when the building project referred to by the Deputy can proceed to tender and construction is dependent on the financial allocation for 2004 and subsequent years, the rate of progress of existing projects in architectural planning and the priority afforded to each project by reference to the published criteria for prioritising large-scale building projects.

Question No. 213 answered with Question No. 178.

Paul Connaughton

Ceist:

214 Mr. Connaughton asked the Minister for Education and Science if funding will be provided to Brierfield national school, County Galway, under a special scheme which allows boards of management to carry out extensions and repair work to their school; if his attention has been drawn to a huge problem concerning the lack of indoor toilets which leads to a significant health hazard at this school; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [28484/03]

The proposed large-scale building project for Brierfield national school is listed in section 7 of the 2003 school building programme which is published on my Department's website at www.education.ie This proposed project is at stage 1-2, outline sketch scheme, of architectural planning. It has been assigned a band three rating by my Department in accordance with the published criteria for prioritising large-scale projects. I intend to publish details of the 2004 school building programme by early January at the latest. The programme will clarify what progress is planned for projects such as Brierfield national school during 2004.
