220 Mr. Naughten asked the Minister for Arts, Sport and Tourism if he will approve a request by Roscommon County Council to amend the conditions on a sports capital grant for the Monksland area of County Roscommon; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [29187/03]
Grants of €745,987 have been allocated to Roscommon County Council since 2000 under the sports capital programme for the provision of sports and community facilities in the Monksland area. To date €162,671 has been paid to Roscommon County Council towards this development.
The Department has received a request from Roscommon County Council seeking to amend their original proposal for the development of a new community centre in order to provide instead for refurbishment of an existing premises, owned by the county council. Officials from the sports unit of the Department are in contact with the county council seeking clarification in relation to certain aspects of the revised proposal.
