Vol. 576 No. 5

Written Answers. - Departmental Properties.

Arthur Morgan

Ceist:

215 Mr. Morgan asked the Minister for Finance if it is the intention of the Government to sell the properties in which Departments are currently located with reference to the eight Government Departments which under budget 2004 are to move to provincial locations; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [30030/03]

An implementation committee, reporting to a special Cabinet sub-committee, has been appointed by the Government to oversee the production of a decentralisation plan by the Office of Public Works. The committee is due to report by the end of March 2004. Any decision on future disposal of property, especially in relation to Dublin-based property, will be made in the context of the committee's proposals.

Ceist:

216 Mr. Morgan asked the Minister for Finance the Government plans regarding the Custom House once the Department of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government has been decentralised to Wexford; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [30041/03]

An implementation committee, reporting to a special Cabinet sub-committee, has been appointed by the Government to oversee the production of a decentralisation plan by the Office of Public Works. The question of the future use of the Custom House and, indeed, all other properties that will be vacated as a direct result of the decentralisation process will be addressed in the plan.
