Vol. 576 No. 5

Written Answers. - Services for People with Disabilities.

David Stanton

Ceist:

360 Mr. Stanton asked the Minister for Health and Children further to Question No. 244 of 25 June 2003, and with reference to the services for people with intellectual disability or autism, if the discussions mentioned in his reply have been completed; the service providers mentioned in his reply; the areas of concern in 2003, including emergency placements; his views on same; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [30145/03]

The Government allocated an additional €50 million to services for people with disabilities in July following discussions with the health boards. An additional €15 million revenue funding, or €25 million full year cost in 2004, was allocated for services for people with an intellectual disability or autism. The money was used to address a number of areas, including costs associated with emergency residential places during 2003, the provision of day services for young adults who have just left school and some enhancement of the health related support services for children.
