Vol. 576 No. 5

Written Answers. - Industrial Strategy.

Paul Kehoe

Ceist:

93 Mr. Kehoe asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment when the review of industrial strategy will be completed; and the timescale for implementation. [29946/03]

Trevor Sargent

Ceist:

132 Mr. Sargent asked the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment when she expects to receive a report from the enterprise strategy review group that she established earlier in 2003; and the form she expects the group's report to take. [29963/03]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 93 and 132 together.

I set up the enterprise strategy review group under the chairmanship of Eoin O'Driscoll to recommend and prioritise new strategies and policies to ensure the continuation of the economic prosperity that we have enjoyed in the past decade. The group will examine those issues that the Government needs to take into account to help strengthen our enterprise environment and promote an innovation and knowledge driven economy, in addition to sustaining those industries already providing employment here. The group is working towards submitting a report to me by the middle of 2004.

No format has been specified for the report, which remains a matter for the chairman of the group. Until the group's report has been considered, it is not possible to give a timescale for the implementation of ensuing recommendations.
