Vol. 577 No. 1

Written Answers. - Visa Applications.

Cecilia Keaveney

Ceist:

190 Cecilia Keaveney asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the reasons two holiday visas were refused for persons (details supplied); and if he will make a statement on the matter. [30586/03]

The persons in question made visa applications in May 2003. The applications were refused because it had not been established, on the basis of the documentation supplied to my Department, that the applicants would observe the conditions of the visa. It was also noted that a foreign bank statement which was submitted in support of the applications was in a name other than that of the applicants.

An appeal against the refusals was received in August 2003. The visa appeals officer, having reconsidered the applications afresh, upheld the original decision. It is open to the applicants to make fresh applications with up to date supporting documentation and the matter will be considered anew.
