Vol. 577 No. 4

Written Answers. - Grant Payments.

John Perry

Ceist:

116 Mr. Perry asked the Minister for Agriculture and Food if a suckler cow quota will be allocated to a person (details supplied); and if he will make a statement on the matter. [31507/03]

The person named applied for an allocation of suckler cow quota from the 2004 national reserve under category A, which caters for first time applicants for suckler cow premium who are under 35 years of age. One of the conditions, which each applicant under all categories must satisfy, is that his or her total income, including that of spouse or partner, for the year ending 31 December 2002 must not exceed €27,000, of which any off-farm income must not exceed €13,500. All applicants are asked to submit a tax assessment or P60 certificate of income with their applications in order to verify their income. Since the person named did not submit the required documentation my Department wrote to him on 22 September 2003 requesting a P60 or tax assessment. When the documentation was not submitted following the issue of this letter, my Department wrote to the person named on 25 November 2003 informing him that he would not qualify for an allocation of suckler cow quota from the 2004 national reserve. If the person named submits a P60 to the quota section of my Department at Michael Davitt House, Castlebar, County Mayo, his case will be re-examined having regard to the conditions applying to category A applicants.
