The number of persons deported, pursuant to the Immigration Act 1999, as amended, in the period 1 December 2002 to 30 November 2003 was 568. The breakdown of the nationalities involved is as follows: Albania, five; Algeria, two; USA, two; Angola, one; Belarus, two; Brazil, two; Bulgaria, 13; China, 38; Croatia, 17; Czech Republic, 67; Egypt, eight; Estonia, 11; Guatemala, one; India, four; Iraq, three; Israel, three; Kosovo, 17; Latvia, 17; Lithuania, 28; Malaysia, six; Moldova, 17; Nepal, one; Niger, one; Nigeria, 18; Pakistan, seven; Peru, one; Philippines, two; Poland, 39; Portugal, one; Romania, 166; Russia, seven; Serbia, one; Sierra Leone, one; South Africa, 37; stateless, one; Sudan, one; Turkey, one; Ukraine, 17; Yugoslavia, one; and Zaire, one.
The above represents an approximate 10% increase over the number of deportations in the previous 12 month period.
