Written Answers. - Water and Sewerage Schemes.

Dinny McGinley

Ceist:

296 Mr. McGinley asked the Minister for the Environment Heritage and Local Government the position regarding the proposed sewerage scheme for Glenties, County Donegal. [31677/03]

The Glenties sewerage scheme is included in my Department's Water Services Investment Programme 2003-2005 as a scheme to commence construction in 2005 at an estimated cost of €4 million. My Department is awaiting the submission of a preliminary report for the scheme by Donegal County Council.

Ceist:

297 Mr. McGinley asked the Minister for the Environment Heritage and Local Government if a sewerage scheme is planned for Ardara, County Donegal; the current position of the scheme; and when it is expected that work will commence on the project. [31678/03]

The Ardara sewerage scheme has been approved for funding under the rural towns and villages initiative of my Department's Water Services Investment Programme 2003-2005, at an estimated cost of €4.2 million.

Donegal County Council's report on tenders for the civil works element of the scheme is under consideration in my Department and will be dealt with as quickly as possible. I approved the contract documents for the mechanical and electrical works in July. It is a matter for the council to advance the tender process in respect of these works.
