Vol. 577 No. 4

Written Answers. - Decentralisation Programme.

Dinny McGinley

Ceist:

317 Mr. McGinley asked the Minister for Social and Family Affairs the number of applications currently in her Department from persons who have applied for transfers to County Donegal. [31696/03]

My Department has offices in five locations in County Donegal. They are Letterkenny, Buncrana, Donegal town, Dungloe and Dunfanaghy. There are formal transfer arrangements in place in respect of clerical officers who wish to relocate to these locations.

There is also centrally agreed transfer arrangements at staff officer level whereby one in five vacancies that arise in larger provincial locations, such as those that have a significant number of staff officer posts, may be filled by transfer. My Department's Letterkenny office is among those locations for which formal transfer lists are maintained at staff officer level.

There are no formal transfer arrangements in place for general service grades. The current number of clerical officers on my Department's central transfer list for locations in County Donegal and staff officers on the transfer list for Letterkenny are as follows:

128
