56 Mr. S. Ryan asked the Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources the information available to his Department regarding the proposed development of the Corrib gas field; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [31274/03]
Shell Exploration and Petroleum Ireland Limited the developers of the Corrib gas field, has decided to submit a new planning application to Mayo County Council on the onshore gas terminal at Bellanaboy Bridge, County Mayo. Shell Exploration and Petroleum intends to lodge this application with Mayo County Council before the end of December 2003. Any decision to develop the field will be taken by Shell in the light of the response to this application and other extant factors at that time.
