Vol. 590 No. 1

Membership of Committees: Motion.

I move:

That Deputy Mary Hanafin, Minister for Education and Science, be discharged from the Committee on Procedure and Privileges and Deputy Tom Kitt, Minister of State at the Department of the Taoiseach, be appointed in substitution for her; that Deputy Mary Hanafin, Minister for Education and Science, be discharged from the Joint Committee on Broadcasting and Parliamentary Information and Deputy Tom Kitt, Minister of State at the Department of the Taoiseach, be appointed in substitution for her; and that Deputy Liam Twomey be discharged from the Select Committee on Finance and the Public Service and Deputy Paddy McHugh be appointed in substitution for him.

Question put and agreed to.

We now come to No. 1, Adoptive Leave Bill 2004 [Seanad], Second Stage. I call on the Minister of State at the Department of Justice, Equality and Law Reform, Deputy Fahey, to move the motion for the Second Stage reading.

Is he in Roscommon as well?

Who is going to move the motion?

Bad planning. He is walking the land.

I apologise for the absence of the Minister of State who is usually very diligent. Presumably, he did not expect such a short debate on the Order of Business.

There are a lot of things he did not expect. He is meeting the developers.

We will have to suspend the sitting, a Cheann Comhairle.

The Minister of State will have to reapply for a slot.

Sitting suspended at 4.55 p.m. and resumed at 5 p.m.
