Vol. 607 No. 1

Requests to move Adjournment of Dáil under Standing Order 31.

Before coming to the Order of Business, I propose to deal with a number of notices under Standing Order 31. I will call on the Deputies in the order in which they submitted their notices to my office.

I propose the adjournment of Dáil Éireann under Standing Order 31 to discuss the following matter of urgent public concern, namely the proposal to create four regional hospital networks just months after the creation of ten smaller networks, with the consequent impact on hospitals, the irrational and unrealistic geographic spread of the proposed networks and the creation of monolithic structures not unrelated to the discarded Hanly report recommendations.

I ask that the Dáil Éireann be adjourned under Standing Order 31 to analyse the fallout following the decision by the HSE to put the PPARs and FISP computer systems on hold, the cost implications involved and the lessons to be learned before another euro is spent by the HSE or by the Tánaiste on computer systems and consultants.

I seek that the business of the Dáil be adjourned under Standing Order 31 to discuss a matter of urgent national importance, namely to allow a statement by the Tánaiste and Minister for Health and Children explaining why an emergency plan had to be put into operation at Cork University Hospital yesterday only months after new accident and emergency facilities had opened at the hospital.

Having considered the matters raised, they are not in order under Standing Order 31.
