Vol. 678 No. 1

Requests to move Adjournment of Dáil under Standing Order 32.

Anois, iarratais chun tairisceana a dhéanamh an Dáil a chur ar athló faoi Bhuan Ordú 32.

I seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 32 to discuss an issue of national importance and concern; namely, the urgent need to support all cystic fibrosis patients in the State. I welcome the opening of the nine en-suite beds at St. Vincent's University Hospital and the recent granting of planning permission for a cystic fibrosis unit at Beaumont Hospital. I call on the Minister for Health and Children, the Minister for Finance and the Tánaiste to ensure finance is made available to complete the national centre, which includes 34 en-suite rooms for cystic fibrosis patients at St. Vincent's hospital.

Deputies

Hear, hear.

The Deputy can give them the €45,000 he did not mention on the radio.

Deputy Stagg has not taken a cut yet, and he also passed the pickets.

I do not get €45,000.

(Interruptions).

Forty-five thousand.

When will Deputy Stagg pass the pickets again?

What about the €45,000?

The Deputy should give up the €45,000.

If Deputies Stagg and McGrath want to have a row they can have it outside.

The Deputies cannot take a bit of honesty.

What about the €45,000?

Deputy Ferris.

Go raibh maith agat, a Cheann Comhairle.

Supporting public sector workers, a Cheann Comhairle. That is the hypocrisy.

(Interruptions).

The Deputy should give up the €45,000.

Look who is talking. He has a brass neck.

Deputy McGrath has a rubber neck.

What about the €45,000?

Deputy Kehoe is not helping.

A Deputy

Deputy McGrath votes with them every time.

I do not do hypocrisy.

Hold on a second, for goodness sake.

A Deputy

The Deputy should take it back.

Glasshouses and stones come to mind.

Deputy Ahern, you must stop.

I seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 32——

(Interruptions).

For goodness sake. Deputy Ferris.

I seek the adjournment of the House under Standing Order 32 to discuss a matter of local and national importance; namely, the inability of Iarnród Éireann to provide transport for six MS sufferers travelling by wheelchair who had previously booked their passage from Tralee station to Heuston Station in order to receive respite care at Bushy Park for one week. This disgraceful situation demands ministerial intervention to ensure the six MS sufferers have the same rights of transport as everyone else. There can be no excuse for Iarnród Éireann's claim that it can provide facilities for only one wheelchair user on the Tralee to Dublin train.

I seek the adjournment of the Dáil to address the following matter of urgent national importance, namely, the need for the Tánaiste and Minister for Enterprise, Trade and Employment, in conjunction with IDA Ireland and other relevant State agencies, to act with greater urgency to save the 1,100 jobs that will be lost if the closure of SR Technics at Dublin Airport is allowed to go ahead. There is a need for expressions of interest in the operation to be dealt with directly by IDA Ireland and for the survival plan put forward by the workforce to be fully supported by Government.

Tar éis breithnithe a dhéanamh ar na nithe ardaithe, níl siad in ord faoi Bhuan Ordú 32. Having considered the matters raised, I do not consider them to be in order under Standing Order 32.
