Vol. 682 No. 1

Suspension of Member.

I move:

"That Deputy Bannon be suspended from the service of the Dáil."

Is this motion opposed?

You gave no warning at all.

Give him a yellow card.

Is the motion opposed? The motion is not opposed, so Deputy Bannon must leave the House.

Every time something reflects badly on the Government, you rule it out of order.

The Deputy must leave the House, failing which I will suspend the sitting for 15 minutes.

Question put and agreed to.
Sitting suspended at 10.35 a.m. and resumed at 10.50 a.m.

I ask Deputy Bannon to leave the House now.

I feel annoyed. I feel offended.

Of course he does.

I did not accuse the Office of the Ceann Comhairle of being political. I will leave the House in an orderly fashion after making my point.

Deputy James Bannon withdrew from the Chamber.

For the record, any individual who wishes to make an allegation against a Member of the House can do so by way of a substantive motion and will not be prevented by the Chair from doing so in accordance with Standing Orders.
