I seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 32 to debate the following urgent matter, namely, the devastation caused by flash flooding in the Bunbeg and Derrybeg areas in the parish of Gaoth Domháir, Country Donegal, yesterday evening. It resulted in the collapse of bridges, cutting off access to local communities, the destruction of roads, the flooding of local homes businesses and industries and the destruction of property and endangering of lives, only saved by the prompt response of the rescue services. There is an urgent need to have an immediate survey and audit of the damage and its causes and a need for emergency funding to restore the destroyed infrastructure and prevent such a recurrence in future.
I seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 32 to raise a matter of national importance, namely, the escalating threat to farm incomes. Dairy farmers currently sell milk for seven cent per litre, less than it costs to produce, which is a part of the overall difficulty faced by the sector due to the Government's mismanagement.
I seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 32 to discuss a specific and important matter of public interest requiring urgent consideration, namely, the grave security breach that occurred in Sarsfield Military Barracks, Limerick, last Monday, resulting in the theft of training grenades, a weapon and ammunition.
