Vote 37 — Army Pensions (Supplementary)

That a supplementary sum not exceeding €15,600,000 be granted to defray the charge which will come in course of payment during the year ending on the 31st day of December, 2011, for retired pay, pensions, compensation, allowances and gratuities payable under sundry statutes to or in respect of members of the Defence Forces and certain other Military Organisations, etc., and for sundry contributions and expenses in connection therewith; for certain extrastatutory children's allowances and other payments and for sundry grants.

Are the votes agreed to?

On Vote 34 — Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation, I add my voice to that of Deputy McGrath. We are both directors of the company mentioned by him. It is a community body which is trying to create employment in the Coolock area. With regard to the cut in the allocation for community training grants——

I am sorry, but we cannot debate the matter now.

I want to ask the Tánaiste about it. I understand my valiant colleagues have already made representations to the two Ministers concerned to have this changed.

We cannot debate the matter now. I suggest to the Deputy that he table the matter for discussion in the Topical Issue debate and I will consider it.

I will do that also. I just wanted to bring it to the Tánaiste's attention that this is a serious issue.

The Deputy may not do so now.

What it means is that the community companies with which I am involved will have to raise an extra €200,000 through their own initiatives. We will find it very difficult to provide the resources required to provide community training.

The Deputy should resume his seat. He should not cut off the hand of friendship.

I urge the Tánaiste to look at this issue again.

Will the Deputy, please, resume his seat?

I sincerely thank the Ceann Comhairle for allowing me to raise a matter for discussion in the Topical Issue debate before.

Votes put and agreed to.

I move the following Supplementary Estimate:
