Topical Issue Matters

I wish to advise the House of the following matters in respect of which notice has been given under Standing Order 27A and the name of the Member in each case: (1) Deputy Terence Flanagan - the need for more beds for cystic fibrosis patients at Beaumont Hospital, Dublin; (2) Deputy Peter Fitzpatrick - the development of the coastal walkway to prevent flooding in Dundalk and Blackrock, County Louth; (3) Deputy Regina Doherty - the proposed closure of a day centre in County Meath; (4) Deputy Catherine Murphy - the extra charging of families by some nursing homes for the provision of basic equipment and medical supplies; (5) Deputies Ann Phelan, Willie Penrose and Jack Wall - the compulsory redundancy of enlisted Defence Force members based on an upper service limit of 21 years; (6) Deputy Eamonn Maloney - the public concern at private hospitals being funded by the taxpayer; (7) Deputy Michael Conaghan - the practice of public consultants working in private hospitals; (8) Deputy Mary Mitchell O'Connor - the variety of teaching methods being employed for children with autism; (9) Deputy Mick Wallace - the costs and availability of invasive ventilation for people with motor neurone disease who are living at home; (10) Deputy Clare Daly - the issues raised in respect of the Go Safe system; (11) Deputy Richard Boyd Barrett - the need to protect tenants' rights in situations of receivership; (12) Deputy Sean Fleming - the need for Irish Water to be subject to the remit of the Ombudsman; (13) Deputy Robert Troy - the need to address the issues arising from cuts to Leader funding in Longford and Westmeath; and (14) Deputy Seán Kyne - the regulations governing the harvesting of seaweed.

The matters raised by Deputies Ann Phelan, Willie Penrose and Jack Wall; Mary Mitchell O'Connor; Peter Fitzpatrick; and Mick Wallace have been selected for discussion.
