Scrutiny of EU Legislative Proposals

The committee will now meet in public session to discuss EU legislative proposals. The first proposal is COM (2011) 804, a regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council on the European maritime and fisheries fund repealing Council Regulations Nos. 1198 (2006) and 861 (2006), as well as the Council Regulation of 2011 on integrated maritime policy. The lead Department is the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine. It is proposed that the proposal warrants further scrutiny and that the Department shall be written to, as discussed earlier. Is that agreed? Agreed.

COM (2011) 888 is a regulation of the European Parliament and of the Council on certain measures pertaining to countries allowing non-sustainable fishing for the purpose of conserving fish stocks. The lead Department is the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine. One of the other Departments is the Department of Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation. Is it agreed that this proposal warrants further scrutiny and that we write to the Department as discussed earlier? Agreed.

No. 21 is regulation of the European Parliament and the Council amending the Council Regulation No. 1342/2008 of 18 December 2008 establishing a long-term plan for cod stocks and fisheries exploiting those stocks. The lead Department is the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine. It is proposed that this proposal does not warrant any further scrutiny. Is it agreed that we write to the Department asking that we be kept informed of all developments in regard to this proposal? Agreed.
