JOINT COMMITTEE ON EUROPEAN AFFAIRS (Sub-Committee on European Scrutiny) díospóireacht -
Thursday, 23 Mar 2006

Business of Sub-Committee.

The minutes of the previous meeting of 2 March have been circulated. Are they agreed? Agreed.

The draft 63rd report of the sub-committee has been circulated. I propose that the report be forwarded to the Joint Committee on European Affairs for agreement to lay before both Houses, with the appendices. Is that agreed? Agreed. The 57th, 58th, 59th, 60th, 61st and 62nd reports of the sub-committee were deposited in the Oireachtas Library on 16 March.

No. 10 is correspondence received. A letter from the Department of Transport informs the sub-committee that, in accordance with its decision, the implications of COM (2005) 632 have been brought to the attention of Eurocoach Limited which is based in Donegal. We had some reservations regarding the impact. I propose that the correspondence be noted. Is that agreed? Agreed.

There is also a letter from the Department of the Environment, Heritage and Local Government regarding No. 1.8 on today's agenda. It is proposed to note it. Is that agreed? Agreed.

I may not be here at the next meeting, and an Acting Chairman may have to be appointed. I thank members for their co-operation.

The sub-committee adjourned at 10.20 a.m. until 9.30 a.m. on Thursday, 6 April 2006.
