Vol. 7 No. 7

ORDER OF BUSINESS.

I understand some time ago Senator Fitzgerald handed in a motion asking for an inquiry into the affairs of the National Land Bank which he afterwards verbally withdrew. Yesterday I asked the Clerk about the motion, and I wish if possible to have it taken at an early date. I want the Seanad to meet to-morrow and take that motion. Certain matters were raised in the other House yesterday. It is not satisfactory that a motion of this kind should be mixed up with other business, and for that reason I ask that the Seanad meet to-morrow to take the motion.

CATHAOIRLEACH

It will be an advantage that we should meet to-morrow. The Minister for Justice asked that we might dispose of the remaining stages of the Rent Restrictions Bill, and in view of the fact that we are going to have a substantial accumulation of business I think it is wiser to meet to-morrow. In that case the motion to which you refer will appear to-morrow. As to the time, I am entirely in the hands of the House. It might be an advantage to meet early in the case of country members who want to get home. If there is no objection we might meet at 11.

I should like to have the motion taken at a time when the Minister for Finance and the Minister for Industry and Commerce are present.

CATHAOIRLEACH

In view of the discussion that is in the papers to-day, I think it is in the interest of everyone that the motion should be disposed of as early as possible.

The Minister for Finance has business with me in my office from 11 to 12, but I think 12 would suit.
