Vol. 7 No. 12

JURIES (DUBLIN) BILL, 1926—FOURTH STAGE.

CATHAOIRLEACH

The House may recollect there was a sub-section dealing with the important matter of the detention of juries overnight in certain cases of felony. This particular sub-section proposes to give a discretion to the judge to dispense with the locking up of jurors in certain cases other than those specified. It occurred to me in looking at the Title of the Bill that the sub-section was not in accordance with the Title, and that it would be desirable to amend the Title. Accordingly, the Government propose to amend the Title by inserting the following amendment:—

In page 2, line 13, after the word "Dublin" to add the words "and to permit such a jury to separate in certain cases of felony."

Amendment put and agreed to.
Question—"That the Bill be considered on Report"—put and agreed to.
