Vol. 8 No. 14

PRIVATE BUSINESS. - MERRION SQUARE (DUBLIN) BILL, 1927.

CATHAOIRLEACH

The following Message has been received from the Dáil:—

The Dáil has negatived the Motion.

"That the Dáil concur with the Seanad in their Resolution communicated to the Dáil the 9th day of March, 1927, that it is expedient that a Joint Committee of both Houses be appointed to consider the Merrion Square (Dublin) Bill, 1927."

That is in reference to the Merrion Square Bill, and the Message indicates that the Dáil has negatived the Motion. Perhaps I should mention that the position the Bill stands in now is that it is automatically referred to a Select Committee of this House. It will appear on the Orders of the Day for the next day the House meets, because it is possible—I am not suggesting it, as I do not know—the promoters may have something to say on the subject. Under the Standing Order dealing with Private Bills, the Bill is now automatically referred to a Select Committee of this House.
