Vol. 10 No. 29

PRIVATE BUSINESS. - CORK HARBOUR BILL, 1927—SECOND STAGE.

LEAS-CHATHAOIRLEACH

I move: That the Cork Harbour Bill, 1927, be read a second time.

I move: That the Second Stage of the Cork Harbour Bill, 1927, be adjourned until Wednesday, 10th April, 1929, or if the Seanad be not sitting on that day, the next day thereafter on which the Seanad shall sit. I do this with the assent of the promoters of the Bill. It may be remembered that this Bill has been before the Seanad now for some time and that its consideration has been deferred pending the findings of the Ports and Harbours Tribunal, which is at present examining into the affairs of ports in the Free State. Earlier in the year a similar motion for postponing consideration was passed by this House in the hope that the Report of the Ports and Harbours Tribunal would be ready before to-day. That has not happened. The Tribunal is still sitting, so that under the circumstances it seems advisable that consideration of the Bill be further postponed in the confident hope that on the date fixed in the motion the Report of the Ports and Harbours Tribunal will have been received.

Amendment put and agreed to.
