When one of the amendments was moved in Committee, it altered the original definition of "wild birds." The amendment has excluded from the definition as it now stands in the Bill game birds, and it had to refer to the Game Preservation Bill, which is not yet law, and will not be law until it goes back to the Dáil and our amendments have been dealt with. That means that there is in the Bill an actual reference to a Bill which has not yet become law. It is a purely technical objection, and personally I do not think it will do any harm to pass the Bill now with that reference.
Wild Birds Protection Bill, 1929.—Fifth Stage.
Question proposed: "That the Wild Birds Protection Bill, 1929 be received for final consideration and do now pass.
That would mean when the Bill has been passed it will contain a reference to something which does not exist.
It is only a Bill, and has to go to the Dáil. I think it ought to be passed.
Question put.
I ask for a division.
Cathaoirleach
Will Senators who support the call for a division stand in their places?
Senators Butler, Dillon, Linehan and McGuinness rose.
Cathaoirleach
The Senator has not the necessary support in his call for a division.
Question declared carried.
