Vol. 13 No. 17

Shop Hours (Drapery Trades, Dublin and Districts), Bill, 1930—Committee Stage.

Bill passed through Committee without amendment.
Bill ordered to be Reported.
The Seanad went out of Committee.
Bill Reported without amendment.

I move:—

"That the Standing Orders be suspended for the purpose of enabling the remaining stages of the Shops Hours (Drapery Trades, Dublin and Districts) Bill, 1930, to be taken to-day." If there is any opposition to this motion I do not want to press it. My reasons for moving the motion is that there is a certain amount of urgency about this Bill. It was treated, so far, as a non-controversial Bill. The existing Act expires in July, and as things move rather slowly in the Dáil, there is a chance that if we do not get the Bill to the Dáil as quickly as possible it may not be passed in time. I only ask the House to accept the motion if there is general agreement.

I would not like this motion to pass now because I want to put down an amendment.

In these circumstances I ask leave to withdraw the motion.

Motion, by leave, withdrawn.
The seanad adjourned at 6.35 until Thursday, 10th April, at 3 p.m.
