Vol. 13 No. 22

Suspension of Standing Orders.

I move:

"That the Standing Orders be suspended for the purpose of enabling the remaining stage of the Public Charitable Hospitals (Temporary Provisions) Bill, 1929, to be taken to-day."

The reason I am moving this is because I understand that a number of hospitals are combined with a view to making an effort to do something in connection with the running of sweepstakes for hospitals most in need of funds. It is in order to enable them to get to work immediately that I am moving this motion. It is not a contentious matter at this stage. I think every Senator is satisfied. I ask the House to carry through the remaining Stages to-day.

I beg to second that.

Motion put and agreed to.
