Vol. 15 No. 25

Control of Manufactures Bill, 1932—Second Stage.

Cathaoirleach

I understand that this Bill will take some time.

I would like to take the Second Stage of this Bill now, because it would enable us to get the Committee Stage next Wednesday. It is not really a matter of very great importance to me, but I rather think that the House will not want to sit far into August, if at all. If we take the Second Stage now it will be possible to be ready for the Committee Stage next week.

We cannot have the Second Stage to-night, it is too late now.

We can take it to-morrow morning.

Cathaoirleach

It is a matter for the House. It is very late now.

I suggest that we sit at 11.30 tomorrow morning. This is a very important measure.

Cathaoirleach

Will that meet the wishes of the House? I take it that it will?

. It will be very inconvenient for me. I have an important meeting to-morrow at that time. Could we say 3 o'clock to-morrow?

Cathaoirleach

Under Standing Order 19, the House meets at 11.30 a.m. on Fridays unless it otherwise resolves.

I am sorry if we cannot fix it at 3 o'clock to-morrow. I have often fought for it but have never succeeded in getting, a meeting on Friday at 3 o'clock; it is against the Standing Orders.

Cathaoirleach

Will the Minister agree to next Wednesday?

I do not think it will suit. The intention is as I understand it to call the Dáil together to-morrow week to deal with such amendments as may arise on this and other measures.

Cathaoirleach

The Dáil may like a little work in the Horse Show Week.

Although it is very inconvenient for me I will be here at 11.30 to-morrow morning. If the Second Reading is left over until next Wednesday, there will be very little chance of taking the remaining stages next week.

I think we are all agreeable to meet to-morrow morning at 11.30.

Very well.

The House adjourned at 8 o'clock until 11.30 on Friday, 22nd July.
