Seanad Éireann díospóireacht -
Wednesday, 7 Dec 1932

Vol. 16 No. 6

Public Business. - Business of the Seanad.

Cathaoirleach

With regard to the motion on the Order Paper, in the name of the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs, the Minister is not here and he told me, before he went away, that he would be glad if the motion could be held over until next week. If the House would agree, it could be put on the Order Paper as the first business for Wednesday next. In the meantime, we have a considerable list of Bills before us. We have the Defence Forces (Pensions) Bill, 1932—Committee Stage, the Control of Prices Bill, 1932 —Report Stage, the Seeds and Fertilisers Supply Bill, 1932—Second Stage, the Expiring Laws Bill, 1932— Second Stage and the Electoral (Registration Appeals) Bill, 1932— Second Stage.

In addition to these, it is almost certain that the following Bills will reach us before the end of this week and will appear on the Order Paper for next Wednesday for Second Stage:—Bourn Vincent Memorial Park Bill, 1932; Rates on Agricultural Land (Relief) Bill, 1932; Agricultural Produce (Cereals) Bill, 1932; Finance (Customs Duties) (No. 4) Bill, 1932.

The House will see, therefore, that there is a very heavy volume of work to be got through before Christmas. If the House would agree, I would suggest that we should adjourn until Tuesday instead of Wednesday. That would give us an extra day.

If we meet on Tuesday, I am not sure that we should take the Report Stage of the Control of Prices Bill.

Cathaoirleach

We shall take it on Wednesday.

It is proposed to take the Ottawa Motion on Wednesday.

Cathaoirleach

The first business on Wednesday.

The Seanad adjourned at 7.35 p.m. until 3 o'clock on Tuesday, 13th December.
