Vol. 17 No. 14

Order of Business.

Cathaoirleach

As regards the Order Paper, it will be remembered that we arranged to take the Land Bill to-day. I suggest to the House it is rather important that we should try and get the Second Stage of the Land Bill over to-day. We could then take the Committee Stage on Tuesday or Wednesday. I think the best course for us to adopt is to sit until 1 o'clock and then to come back at 2 o'clock and finish the day's sitting.

Does that mean that we are taking the Second Stage of the Land Bill to-day?

Cathaoirleach

Yes, certainly that has been arranged.

It seems to me a most extraordinary thing that in the midst of a number of comparatively small Bills and, practically, at the end of this part of the season, we should take the most important Bill of the year.

Cathaoirleach

This Bill has been on the agenda all the week and we have not reached it until now.

I agree with Senator Colonel Moore that this seems to be rather a quick procedure...

Cathaoirleach

What is it you want done, Senator?

That we should proceed until 2.30 to-day and then adjourn until next week.

Cathaoirleach

But the House seems to desire that we adjourn at 1 o'clock and resume at 2 o'clock. That is the course we have decided to follow.
