In connection with the motion which appears on the Order Paper in my name:
That this House requests the Government to institute an inquiry by agricultural economists and practical farmers into the present policy of closer land settlement and that until the report of this inquiry is available a stay be placed on the further acquisition of grass-fattening lands."
If Senators would like that it should stand over until our next meeting I am quite agreeable. I had a discussion about it with the Minister for Lands who expected that our programme to-day would be rather loaded. One or two other Senators have also asked me if it might stand over. There is really no special urgency about it.
