Vol. 37 No. 15

Summer Time Order, 1950—Motion.

On behalf of Senator M. Hayes, I move:—

That Seanad Éireann hereby approves of the Summer Time Order, 1950, made by the Minister for Justice under the Summer Time Act, 1925 (No. 8 of 1925).

The purpose of this Order is to make our period of summer time coincide with the period fixed for Great Britain and Northern Ireland, and this involves extending our normal summer time period, which would expire on 8th October, for another fortnight, i.e., to 22nd October.

The principle of summer time does not come under the scope of the Order; it is a matter of regulating the time at which it would operate.

Question put and agreed to.
