Vol. 41 No. 3

Local Government (Remission of Rates) Bill, 1952—Second and Subsequent Stages.

Question proposed: "That the Bill be now read a Second Time."

A Chathaoirligh, an aidhm atá leis an mBille seo ná an t-am a bhaineann leis na rátaí a mhaitheamh a chur siar go dtí an t-aonú lá déag is fiche de Mhí Márta, 1952.

The purpose of this Bill is to extend to the 31st March, 1953, the period within which the erection, enlargement or improvement of residences of certain types must be completed in order to qualify for the two-thirds remission of rates for five years provided by the Local Government (Remission of Rates) Acts, 1940 to 1951. The remission in its present form dates from 1940. Senators are, therefore, well acquainted with it and I am sure they will agree to the proposal in the Bill now before the House. There is no new principle in it.

Question put and agreed to.
Agreed to take the remaining Stages to-day.
Bill put through Committee without amendment, reported, received for final consideration, and passed.
