Vol. 60 No. 16

Business of Seanad.

Could we have a statement as to when we are likely to reach the motion which is No. 2 on the Order Paper?

Your guess is as good as mine.

I am afraid I am not satisfied with that.

An Leas-Chathaoirleach

It is not in order to discuss the Order of Business for the next sitting day.

I am raising something in connection with a matter which was on today's Order Paper, which was ordered for today but which we have failed to reach. I am inquiring if the Seanad will be asked to sit further this evening, and if not, why not.

An Leas-Chathaoirleach

The Seanad is adjourning 30 minutes after its customary time.

According to our Standing Orders, we can sit tonight until 10 o'clock or tomorrow morning. If we are being asked not to, we should be told why not.

The Seanad is not meeting tomorrow. It will not meet next week. It will meet on Wednesday, 2nd March, 1966 and according to the Order of Business, if it is possible to take that motion, we shall take it. I have been doing my best to get that motion off the programme and on one of the days when we could have done so the Senator was not here.

I was ill one day during the Christmas holidays. I am beginning to feel the Senator's best is not very good.

The Seanad adjourned at 5.30 p.m. until 3 p.m. on Wednesday, 2nd March, 1966.
