Order of Business.
Can the Leader of the House give any indication as to when the Fine Gael motions on the National Library and on the National Museum are likely to be taken? These have been down for over a year. The motion on the Museum is particularly urgent from our point of view because my understanding is that undertakings given during the last debate on the Museum by the Minister for Education have not been fulfilled. Work which he said was in course——
It would be better not to discuss the subject matter, but just to mention the motions.
Was No. 5 on the Order Paper on the last sitting day of the last session?
We are ordering business today. We cannot order business except on the day that business is to come up.
I discussed with the Minister for Education the motions in which Senator Kelly is interested. However, at the moment the Minister is tied up with the College of Art legislation which is before the Dáil. The motions will be taken as soon as possible.
If it is of any convenience to Senator Ó Maoláin, from our point of view we would be quite willing if these two motions could be taken together on the same day so as not to bring the Minister in twice. That might speed the matter up.
Arising out of the Order of Business, is a motion to be taken tomorrow in accordance with the arrangement which obtained during the last session?
The position about a motion tomorrow is that my arrangements were upset by reason of the fact that the European Parliament met. I had intended to ask the Seanad to come together on 20th October. I had made arrangements for a motion during that week, but that was upset and I am not now in a position to go ahead with that motion tomorrow.
Can we take it that there is general agreement that the arrangement continues for this session?
Yes.
Because it is not possible to take a motion this month, will two days be devoted to motions next month?
Yes.
