Vol. 72 No. 9

Order of Business.

It is proposed to take Nos. 2 and 1 on the Order Paper.

I rise with some diffidence as I have been regrettably absent from some of the recent meetings of the Seanad. I should like to ask the Leader of the House for an indication as to when the Second Stage of the Adoption Bill is likely to be taken. The First Stage has been passed and this Bill is on the Order Paper for many months. A motion seeking reform of the adoption law was passed by the Fianna Fáil Ard-Fheis. I find this very encouraging, as the Bill has aroused much interest.

I cannot tell the Senator yet.

Could the Leader of the House tell us the position regarding tomorrow? However much one may sympathise with Senator Robinson, I hope the proceedings of this House will not be influenced at any stage by the Fianna Fáil Ard-Fheis. Is the House sitting tomorrow?

Could the Leader of the House at this stage give us any indication of what legislation he anticipates will be before the Seanad between now and Easter?

Could we be informed at an early date?

Could the Leader of the House tell us if we will be sitting during Holy Week?

Possibly we will.
